vSphere: Where can I start the vCenter Converter wizard in vCenter 4?

You can find it on Cluster level or on ESX Host level. Just right click on the Cluster or ESX Host and start the Import Machine Wizard.

The rest speaks for itself:

  1. Hi,

My problem is the converter that came with vSphere is installed but does not show on the tree at all, nor the plug in folder or the inventory/host drop down.

  2. On the top menu go to Plug-ins and you’ll see that you have to “Download & Install” it… which makes no sense since you did install it 🙂 but that’s what worked for me. I guess when you “install” from the DVD you’re just installing the plug-in that shows the converter in the “available” section but then there’s one more step.
