WSUS: WSUS 3.0 SP1 Released


De volgende punten zijn verbeterd:

• Support for Windows Server 2008.
• New Client Servicing API:
• Support client registration.
• Filter of updates by category and classification.
• Provide applicability rule extension mechanism.
• Obtain package metadata and report update status for each client.
• Improvements for local publishing: supports publishing of drivers within the enterprise by using vendor provided catalogs. API include support for bundles and prerequisites.
• All hotfixes: WSUS 3.0 SP1 includes all the changes and hotfixes that have been issued since the release of WSUS 3.0.
• Support for Microsoft SQL Server 2005: WSUS 3.0 SP1 lets you use SQL Server 2005.

Nadat op 3 februari de versie 1 release was uitgekomen zag ik en samen met mij nog een aantal mensen dat er nog een paar kleine foutjes in stonden. Deze heeft Forbes inmiddels gefixed.

Na het opnieuw installeren van mijn Windows XP installatie verscheen na de reboot de volgende melding.

RTHDCPL_error

Zodra je security update KB925902 hebt geïnstalleerd kan de bovenstaande error optreden.

Install this update to resolve an issue where certain third-party applications may not start, and you receive an error message: “Illegal System DLL Relocation” after you install security update KB925902 (MS07-017). After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

Citrix: Symantec Tamper Protection Alert & CPU Utilization Management Executables


De volgende symptomen kunnen optreden:

Symptoms

One or more “SYMANTEC TAMPER PROTECTION ALERT” error events are written by Symantec Antivirus to the Application log. These messages are usually paired with a “CPU Utilization Management cannot manage process <PID>” warning event written by CTXCPUUtilMgmt to the Application log.

An example Symantec Antivirus event is as follows:

An example CTXCPUUtilMgmt event is as follows:

The two events are associated by the PID in the CTXCPUUtilMgmt event and the PID of the Target in the Symantec Antivirus event.

WSUS: cannot download large Windows update files in Windows Server 2003


 

De volgende symptomen kunnen optreden:

SYMPTOMS

On a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, when you try to use Windows Server Update Services to download Windows update files that are larger than 700 megabytes (MB), the download operation does not succeed.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the WinVerifyTrust function in Windows Server 2003 cannot verify the certificate validity of the Windows update files.
