Microsoft: Windows XP Service pack 3


Ik kwam een post tegen op http://www.msminded.nl waarop de release dates staan van Windows XP SP3.

Hier een quote van de post:

14 april 2008: Support is beschikbaar voor de RTM versie van Service Pack 3 voor Windows XP

21 april 2008: Original Equipment Manufacturers, Volume License, Connect, MSDN en TechNet subscribers

29 april 2008: Microsoft Update, Windows Update, Download Center

10 juni 2008: Automatic Updates

 

Update: Service Pack 3 kun je nu officieel downloaden vanaf hier: http://download.windowsupdate.com/

Ik ging vandaag even kijken en ik kon inderdaad Service Pack 3 downloaden. Ik heb deze gelijk geïnstalleerd. Dit ging als volgt:

Even opnieuw opstarten.

En voila Service Pack 3 staat geïnstalleerd.

De volgende punten zijn verbeterd:

Office: certain file formats that are blocked after you install Office 2003 Service Pack 3


De volgende informatie staat er op de Microsoft site:

After you install Office 2003 SP3, some Microsoft Office Excel 2003, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003, Microsoft Office Word 2003, and Corel Draw (.cdr) file formats are blocked. By default, these file formats are blocked because they are less secure. They may pose a risk to you.
The following table contains the DWORD names and the corresponding file formats that are blocked by using the FileOpenBlock subkey.

How To: Slipstream Windows Server 2003 SP2


Download eerst het Servicepack naar bijvoorbeeld je E:\ schijf.

Vervolgens extract je de Windows 2003 ISO naar je harddisk bijvoorbeeld E:\W2K3ISO.

Nu open je het command prompt (Start – Run – CDM {enter}) en voer je het volgende commando uit

E:\WindowsServer2003-KB914961-SP2-x86-ENU.exe /integrate:E:\W2K3ISO\

Het onderstaande scherm laat zien dat alles uitgepakt wordt. Even later als dit klaar is komt er een ander scherm die alles samenvoegd.

Nadat het slipstream proces klaar is wil je er natuurlijk weer een bootable cd van maken. Dit kun je als volgt doen

Download het bestand Microsoft Corporation.img. Dit heb je nodig om de bootsector te kunnen defineren.

Vervolgens kun je de boel branden in Nero

    1. Choose CD-ROM (Boot) from the New Compilation’s Boot page.
    2. Under Source of boot image data choose “Image file” and Browse to the Microsoft Corporation.img.
    3. Select Enable expert settings (for advanced users only) and set the following: Kind of emulation – No Emulation
      Number of loaded sectors – 4
      Load segment of sectors – 07C0
    4. Click NEW.
    5. File Browser area, navigate to c:\xp. Select all of the files inside of that directory and copy them over to the left side for burning.
    6. Click BURN and you’re done once the CD is complete.
